2000 and Whatever – Poland

We may not get to see our 2020 favourites take to the stage, but that doesn’t mean we can’t reminisce on our Eurovision favourites. This series is aimed to discover the team’s favourite entries from the 21st century, from 2001 to 2019.

Anita Reviews Dennis’ 21st Century Favourite

Ich Troje – Keine Grenzen – Żadnych granic | 7th place, 90 points (Final)

I will admit that I haven’t ever heard this song before (that I know of), so this truly will be a first impression. A ballad, my favourite! If you’ve been following this series for a while, you’ll know that it takes a special ballad to really capture my heart, and not long into listening to this song, I know for certain that this is not the one. The song itself is bland, and the only spice is the male vocals, which… I can’t stand. I also didn’t understand the final moments, where the male vocalists kneels down to put his head against the female singer’s legs – what the? Overall, absolutely not my cup of tea. I’d question Dennis’ taste levels but this came 7th, so it’s not just him who saw something that I clearly can’t see!

Joshua Reviews Brandon’s 21st Century Favourite

Isis Gee – For Life | 24th place, 14 points (Final)

Brandon’s trend of liking Eurovision ballads sung by women with strong vocals continues! Unfortunately this particular entry isn’t for me. I completely understand the appeal, though, with effortless vocals and a fairytale-esque staging. It just doesn’t have a particular hook to it that interests me. Overall I thought that the performance was solid. The staging is slightly cliche, but it suits the song, so it’s hard to blame the Polish delegation in this instant.
